Spooky Things We Don't Talk About

As a pre-health student, I feel like there is this pre-conceived notion that you MUST have your life in order and that you MUST know what you are doing, always. However, that is not always the case. It is hard as a student to sit in a classroom full of bright minds and try to “live up to what is expected of you.” I’m here to share with you a very valuable lesson I learned throughout my time at FIU… stop comparing yourself to other students!! I think that is one of the biggest obstacles I’ve had to surpass during my college experience because I was constantly worried I wasn’t doing enough in comparison to my peers. But it’s okay to do things at your own pace, it’s okay to take mental breaks, and it’s okay that not everyone is at the same place at the same time. In the end, you know where you want to be and if it’s something you are passionate about, you WILL achieve it. Have big dreams and strive to be your best self, but always remember to take care of yourself in the process.
